Average cinema admission price worldwide 2014-2018

In its 2014 Global Entertainment & Media Outlook report, PwC projected that the worldwide average cinema admission price would grow from 4.74 U.S. dollars in 2014 to 5.16 U.S. dollars in 2018.

Admission prices differ significantly worldwide

Admission prices vary around the world, depending on factors like cinema location, cinema chain, or a theater’s special features and technology. Therefore, ticket prices can be as low as 2.06 U.S. dollars in Mexico, and as high as 9.11 U.S. dollars in North America. Due to the downward trend in admission numbers, many countries have seen an increase in admission prices over the last few decades. Ticket sales generally make up the largest share of movie theaters’ revenues, so that admission price advances have become a necessary means of securing the survival of theaters around the world.

Cinema attendance in the U.S. to recover?
