In Great Britain, while the distance of journeys made with season tickets and ordinary fares increased until the 2019/20 financial year, a considerably higher number of kilometers were traveled with ordinary fares than with season tickets on franchised services. Passenger kilometers on ordinary tickets exceeded pre-pandemic demand for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, growing to 53.3 billion kilometers.
