This statistic shows the number of major injuries suffered by people who attempted to commit suicide on railways in Great Britain annually from 2001/2002 to 2019/20. There was a large increase in major injuries from suicide attempts in 2013/14, when 54 people were injured while attempting to commit suicide. Railway injuries due to suicide decreased with some fluctuation on the upcoming years, reaching the lowest of this time period in 2017/18, with 16 injuries. However, injuries due to suicide attempt more than doubled in 2018/19 in comparison with 2017/18, with 38 injuries. In 2019/20, the number of injuries fell to 21.
