Distance flown by UK airlines on international and domestic flights 2002-2020

This statistic shows the total number of aircraft kilometers flown by UK airlines between 2002 and 2020, for both international and domestic flights. Understandably, international flights tended to cover a much larger distance than domestic ones. The international distance flown also increased, suggesting that there were more flights flying further over this period. At the same time domestic flight distance traveled was decreasing suggesting that people may have been using other modes of transport for traveling within the UK. In 2020, international distance flown amounted to close to only 663 million kilometers, whereas domestic distance amounted to 36 million kilometers.
