This statistic describes the ranges of pitches in seating for selected airlines in the United States as of December 2013. Spirit airlines (the most complained-about airline in the U.S.) had the smallest pitch with just 28 inches. Pitch refers to the distance between rows of airlines seats. Both seat pitch and width can vary among airlines and even between aircrafts within the same airline company. A greater seat pitch can indicate more leg room, however, it may come at the cost of the thickness of the back of the seat. Seat pitch is also larger for business class seats.
