Share of ferrosilicon imports in the U.S. 2019-2022, by country of origin

Russia is the leading trade partner for ferrosilicon imported into the United States, accounting for some 38 percent of shipments between 2019 and 2022. This was followed by Canada and Brazil, each representing another 13 percent of U.S. ferrosilicon imports. Due to its semiconductor properties, silicon is often used in solar panels, computer chips, and as a part of the automotive industry.
