This graph shows the number of used cars sold privately between 2008 and 2014 according to age bracket. The sale of cars aged nine years or over increased somewhat since the recession. The reason that fewer cars aged under nine years are sold privately is probably due to the fact that owners can get better deals for younger cars by other means, such as trading them in.
