As a leading producer of many important mineral commodities, China is one of the leading mining countries in the world. As of 2023, China was estimated to have produced 2.1 billion metric tons of cement, which made the country the largest cement producer by far. China is also the world's leading producer of rare earths, with 2023 production estimated to have been 240,000 metric tons of rare earth oxide equivalent.
