This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in December 2017. Some 1,500 U.S. consumers were asked if they prefer national or private label/store brands when purchasing processed meat and poultry. During the survey, approximately 44 percent of respondents reported that they had a preference for national brands. National brands are brand-name products that are distributed throughout the country. In contrast, there are private label/store brands, which are only carried in specific retailer stores or chains. These retailers are solely responsible across the whole supply chain for the private label/store brands marketed under their roof.
Do you prefer national or private label/store brands when purchasing processed meat and poultry?
* Survey respondents had to meet the following requirements to participate in the survey: Primary or equally shared responsibility for food shopping. Not adhere to a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle.
