Ford operates two plants in the UK, located in Bridgend and Dagenham. Production at Bridgend is focused on petrol fueled engines, while the Dagenham plant makes diesel motors. Additionally, Ford also has a third manufacturing site located in Halewood where transmissions are made.

The total number of car engines produced was 2.72 million in 2017. Output volume had been increasing in the previous three years, despite an initial decline from 2013 to 2014.
Car production in decline
Despite the growth in engine production, the past two years saw figures for passenger car output decline. In 2018, the number of cars manufactured was 1.52 million. This figure was noticeably smaller than the amount of motors made.
As of 2016, Ford was the leading engine producer in the United Kingdom. The U.S. based company had manufactured a combined 1.44 million engines, which accounted for 57 percent of all motors made that year. Engine output increasing
