HP Inc. history
HP is an American technology company, formed in November 2015 following the break-up of its predecessor, Hewlett-Packard Company. Along with HP, the other company that emerged from the split was Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). HP’s pedigree stretches back to 1935 when the parent company was founded in the garage of William Hewlett and David Packard. Initially producing a range of electronic test equipment, Hewlett-Packard Company rose in the intervening years to become one of the leading manufacturers of PCs, servers, and storage devices, and a provider of a variety of IT services.
Global PC market
PCs come in several varieties, including stationary products like workstations and desktops, as well as portable products like laptops, notebooks, netbooks, and tablets. As the production and manufacturing costs of devices like PCs have lowered, this has enabled companies to produce high-end products for lower retail prices, making the devices accessible to more customers. In a constantly evolving market, PC vendors must adapt to the changing conditions and stay relevant with new products and services.
