This statistic shows the number of grants of citizenship issued in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2016, by country of birth. In this year there were over 24 thousand Indian nationals gaining British citizenship, the most of any nationality. This was followed by 16.7 thousand people from Pakistan who were the second-most common nationality gaining British citizenship in 2016.
