Countries like Turkey, Argentina, and Germany also show a preference for non-invasive procedures*, while in Mexico, like Brazil, surgical procedures are more popular.
Gender disparities in cosmetic surgery
Women continue to be the primary consumers of surgical cosmetic procedures, accounting for nearly 86 percent of all surgeries worldwide in 2023. However, men's participation in plastic surgery has seen a slight increase, rising from 13.5 percent in 2018 to 14.3 percent in 2023.

In the United States, liposuction has become the top choice for both men and women seeking surgical cosmetic enhancement. In 2023, it was the most performed surgical procedure among women, followed by breast augmentation. Among men, liposuction overtook gynecomastia (male breast reduction) as the most common cosmetic surgery in 2023.
