Countries with highest number of plastic surgeons 2023

The plastic surgery market is growing globally, and many countries are known for their expertise in plastic surgery. In 2023, the U.S. had the highest number of plastic surgeons in the world, with 7,750 surgeons. Brazil had the second-largest number of plastic surgeons, with 6,457 surgeons, followed by Japan in third place, overtaking China in the number of plastic surgeons. 

Cosmetic procedures globally

Cosmetic procedures are either surgical or non-surgical. The U.S. and Brazil also registered the highest number of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures performed globally. Worldwide, the top non-surgical cosmetic procedures include botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid. As for the top surgical cosmetic procedures, liposuction and breast augmentation were the most performed in 2023. 

Costs of cosmetic procedures in the U.S.

Surgical procedures also have varying price points. Several factors can contribute to the cost of various surgical procedures, including surgeon’s, facility, and anesthesiologist fees. In the U.S., the most expensive surgical procedures include facelifts and tummy tucks. Among non-surgical cosmetic procedures, hair restoration and vaginal rejuvenation are the most expensive.
