The report analyzed 839,596 online reviews of 1,692 properties and 84 hotel chains with the best online reputation according to ReviewPro's Global Review Index (GRI) - an online reputation score. The GRI is calculated by analyzing the quantitive reviews (usually a rating between 0-5 or 0-10) for hotels and hotel groups posted on all review sites.
The study was divided into three areas: large brands (hotel groups with more than 20 properties), small brands (hotel groups with less than 20 properties), and individual hotels.
