Data on the profitability of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the logistics sector in the United Kingdom (UK) in the years ending June 2014 and June 2020 shows that in June 2020, it was found that a total of 65 percent of such SMEs reported having made a net profit in the previous 12 months, a decrease when compared to 2019.

In order to qualify for interview, SMEs had to meet the following criteria in addition to the quotas by size, sector and region: Not 50%+ owned by another company Not run as a social enterprise or as a not for profit organisation Turnover of less than £25m
Previous annual sample sizes: 1,811 (2014), 1,815 (2015)
