Share of social renters in England 2023, by household type

The largest share of respondents in the category of social renters were men living alone, with a share of almost 23 percent of all social renters. With a share of 12.8 percent, about twice as many social renters were lone parents with dependent child(ren) when compared to lone parents with independent child(ren) (6.4 percent) at that time. 

In 2023, around four million dwellings were social housing in England.
