Share of people who went on a demonstration in Great Britain 1983-2011

This statistic shows the percentage of people who went on a protest or demonstration in Great Britain (GB) from 1983 to 2011. In 2011, this was 8 percent. The peak of this period was in 2002 when 12 percent of respondents had protested or demonstrated against something. In the survey, participants were asked "have you ever done any of these things about a government action which you thought was unjust and harmful?". Participants were given a number of options. The most common positive response was "signing a petition".
