Sports drinks replace fluids and electrolytes/minerals lost by sweating and supply a boost of carbohydrate: isotonic (fluid, electrolytes and 6 to 8% carbohydrate), hypotonic (fluids, electrolytes and a low level of carbohydrate) and hypertonic (high level of carbohydrate)"
