Average attendance at German Bundesliga games has generally risen since 2000, climbing from just under 31,000 in 2000/01 to approximately 43,500 in 2018/19. However, attendances dropped to a mere 4,602 in the 2020/21 season as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as restrictions on attending public events were put in place across Germany. Attendances bounced back in the following seasons, with an average of 39,506 fans watching games in the 2023/24 season.
