This statistic illustrates the distribution of average household food and drink purchases in the United Kingdom, by food type, in 2013. Each food group is based on the 'eatwell plate ideal', generated by the National Health Service to highlight the proportions of each food type people should eat within their diet. Of the proportions actually purchased as household supplies, 21.6 percent was made up of food and drinks high in fat and or sugar.
