According to the source, consumer confidence is shown by seasonally adjusted numerical averages, converted from answers to selected questions that are closely related to the reference variables being tracked (e.g. expectations around personal financial situation in the next twelve months, savings, prosperity to buy). A positive value indicates that the consumers are optimistic about the economic situation; a negative value indicates pessimism. In January 2025, the consumer confidence in the EU amounted to -13.3 points.
