In 2022, Shandong was the province with the largest number of licensed doctors in China, followed by the populous provinces of Guangdong, Henan and Jiangsu. With a smaller population, western regions generally had fewer licensed doctors. Ningxia, Qinghai and Tibet had fewer doctors combined than the eastern municipality of Tianjin.
