Number of construction employees in China 2023, by region
In 2023, more than 50.4 million people were employed in the construction industry in China. The number varied significantly between regions. Prosperous eastern provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, as well as the western province of Sichuan and the southern province of Guangdong had the highest number of employees in the construction industry. The figure in Jiangsu amounted to nearly 7.5 million, while only around 35,000 people were working in the construction industry in Tibet.
