In 2022, more than 20 million passenger vehicles had been registered for the first time in China, representing a drop of more than a million from the previous year. Since 2002, new passenger vehicle registrations in China have been soaring every year, peaking at 24.8 million units in 2017, before beginning to decline to current levels.
