Vehicles sold by PSA Peugeot Citroën 2011-2020

The statistic shows the number of vehicles sold by PSA Peugeot Citroën between the 2011 and 2020 fiscal years. In the 2020 fiscal year, the PSA Group's vehicle sales contracted by around 28 percent and decreased to 2.5 million vehicles.

Timeline of PSA sales

In 2012, PSA and General Motors formed an alliance. Weak European markets, drove sales down 8.8 percent in 2012 compared to the previous year. Bad sales and high production costs landed PSA into a crisis. The PSA-GM restructuring meant many lost jobs, particularly in France, resulting in bad sentiment in the domestic market. By the end of 2013, General Motors sold their stake to investors. The French government and Dongfeng Motor Group, PSA’s Chinese partner and also one of the most popular car brands in China acquired stakes of approximately 13 percent each in 2014. Strengthening European markets helped vehicle sales increase between 2014 and 2016. In 2017, PSA began selling cars in India following a joint venture with Hindustan Motors. That year, the conglomerate’s acquisition of Opel-Vauxhall also boosted sales by approximately 400,000 units. In October 2019, PSA Peugeot Citroen announced a merger with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which was finalized in January 2021.
