The previous record holder, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, had scored 38,387 points for the Milwaukee Bucks and the Lakers in an illustrious 20-year career spanning from 1969 to 1989. During a February 2023 survey, 27 percent of respondents believed that LeBron's current points record would be broken in the next 10 years.
