This statistic shows a timeline of single sales in the United Kingdom from 2008 to 2016, broken down by format. After a peak in 2012, when almost 185 million of digital singles were sold, there was a downward trend in sales, and by 2016 digital singles sales had decreased to almost 98 million units. During the period of consideration, CD singles sales also dropped from more than 4 million singles sold in 2008 to 0.1 million singles sold in 2016.
