he United States has the largest oil refinery throughput in the world. In 2023, refineries in the U.S. handled over 15.96 million barrels of crude oil every day. When compared to 1990, this represented an increase of roughly 19.1 percent. By comparison, daily throughput in Chinese refineries increased from 2.15 million in 1990 to 15.1 million in 2023.
