In 2021, the gender gap in mobile internet use across low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) worldwide was 16 percent, down from 19 percent in 2019. Additionally, LMICs in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa had the largest gender gap with women being 41 percent and 37 percent less likely to access the internet than men in the respective regions.
