The Deutsche Post DHL Group is a global package delivery and supply chain management company based in Bonn, Germany. Presently one of their subsidiary is the world’s largest express delivery and third-party logistics provider, as well as the largest air freight forwarder and third-largest ocean freight forwarder. Before its acquisition by the Deutsche Post, the DHL brand was originally an American company founded in San Francisco in 1969. It was not until the late 1980’s that Deutsche Post started acquiring shares in DHL International, with 100 percent of shares being acquired by 2002.
Growth
As it can be expected given their worldwide operations, the global financial crisis of 2007-2008 (GFC) significantly impacted the Deutsche Post DHL Group. Following a 15 percent drop in 2009, their revenue has since recovered - albeit at an uneven rate – to finally surpass their pre-GFC high in 2018.
