The forest area in Europe seems to be making a recovery from the massive deforestation that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution. In 2005, there were about one billion hectares of forest in Europe, and by 2020 this area had increased slightly to about 1.02 billion hectares.
Deforestation
Deforestation is a serious issue facing many of the world’s forests. As the demand for agricultural products, natural resources, and land for development increases, it will become increasingly difficult to protect the forests. Russia, Brazil, and Australia were the countries that suffered the most severe tree cover loss in 2020 worldwide. In Canada, the leading causes of deforestation in 2017 were the agricultural industry and the mining, oil, and gas industry.
U.S. forest areas
The United States is home to vast areas of forest, though sadly much of it has been destroyed to make room for human habitation and agricultural land. The four main regions of forested land in the United States are the South, the Pacific Coast, the North, and the Rocky Mountains. The American South has the largest total area of forest
