PetroChina is among the largest natural gas producing companies in the world. In 2023, the company reported a marketable natural gas output of some 13.5 billion cubic feet per day. The largest producers tend to be state-owned entities, with public oil supermajors such as Chevron and ExxonMobil reaching a daily output of around 7.7 billion cubic feet. As natural gas and crude oil extraction is often tied, the largest gas producers are also some of the leading oil companies worldwide based on production.
