Get in touch with us nowIn 2023, the revenues of the Boeing Company in the defense, space & security segment amounted to 24.93 billion U.S. dollars. Total revenues of Boeing reached nearly 78 billion U.S. dollars in that year.
Notably, defense, space, and security revenues peaked at Boeing during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. The highest revenue was recorded in 2009, as both wars were occurring, amounting to nearly 33.7 billion U.S. dollars. Between 2001 and 2022, over one trillion U.S. dollars had been spent on the war in Afghanistan, which officially ended in 2021. Meanwhile, spending in Iraq peaked in 2008, with costs amounting to over 142 billion U.S. dollars that year.
Globally, spending on space exploration has also increased over time. Space program expenditures have gone from around 42.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2014 to 103 billion U.S. dollars in 2022. The United States accounted for the bulk of this spending, contributing nearly 61.97 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 and 73.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2023.
