In 2023, oil consumption in the United States increased by nearly one percent, compared to the previous year. However in 2021 the growth rate was around nine percent and this represented the largest consumption growth during the period in consideration, after oil consumption experienced a drop in 2020 as a result of the pandemic-enforced mobility restrictions which led to a decline in transportation fuel demand.
