Proved crude oil reserves in Mexico have been on a decreasing trend since the 1990's. In 2020, the Latin American country's reserves reached less than one billion metric tons, down from 1.6 billion tons in the beginning of the decade. Despite this decrease, Mexico remains as one of the leading oil producing countries in Latin America.
