The statistic shows total bank lending to SMEs in the United Kingdom in 2012, by region. In 2012 bank lending in the United Kingdom amounted to 100.3 billion British pounds. A fifth of this sum, some 20.6 billion British pounds was lent out to small and medium enterprises in London. 13.4 billion and 11.4 billion were lent out to SMEs in the South East and the South West respectively. The story in the less affluent regions of the UK is quite different; Scotland received 7.4, whereas the North East of England received only 3.2 billion.
