In 2023, China consumed 768.6 million metric tons of oil, while Hong Kong consumed around 13.3 million metric tons of oil. During the period under consideration, figures presented a trend of growth, with an increase of nearly 450 million metric tons. The East Asian country is the world's largest primary energy consumer.
