In 2022, Western Europe was the worldwide leader for nuclear power capacity, at 124 gigawatts, followed by the United States and China. While nuclear capacity installed in Europe and the U.S. is forecast to decrease steadily in the next decades, it will increase in China, which will lead the ranking by 2040. The nuclear power capacity installed in this country is projected to almost triple by 2050.
