In 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the total revenue for General Electric (GE) dropped to 75.8 billion U.S. dollars and had not recovered by 2022, when the revenue reached some 75.6 billion U.S. dollars. In 2023, the amount decreased to 67.8 billion U.S. dollars. This was also due to the separation of the company's healthcare segment.

Given the number of segments and diversity of General Electric’s segments, the largest segment is their aviation segment, followed by their healthcare segment. The United States is GE’s largest market while Asia is GE's largest sales region outside of the U.S..
