International tourist arrivals in Europe 2017-2023, by region

The total number of inbound tourist arrivals in Europe grew significantly in 2023 over the previous year, and in some regions recovered from the impact of COVID-19. Overall, Southern/Mediterranean Europe reported the highest number of international tourist arrivals in Europe, both before and after the onset of the pandemic, with 308.5 million arrivals in 2023. This figure made Southern/Mediterranean Europe the region with the highest number of international tourist arrivals worldwide that year.
