The statistic depicts the expectations and the reality of sources used to finance college studies in the United States for an academic year 2013-2014. Shown are the various funding sources actually used as a percentage of total funds drawn for college funding versus the levels expected to be drawn upon. When saving for their child's college education, parents' had anticipated spending 30 percent of their income and savings on their child's college education but actual spending proved this sum to be slightly less amounting to at 27 percent between 2013 and 2014.
