In 2023, wholesale sales of camping backpacks in the United States amounted to slightly over 978 million U.S. dollars, making it one of the top selling product category in the overall wholesale camping equipment market, alongside coolers & chests, and sleeping bags & air beds.

Camping is a popular and relatively affordable way for people to escape from the hustle and bustle of urban areas when taking a vacation. It is seen as an alternative to a resort holiday or a city break. To many, there is a special connection with camping as it allows them to appreciate the beauty of an area’s natural surroundings. In the United States, about 70 percent of Americans said they go camping at least occasionally. As a result of the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic more North American travelers had in fact decided to go on camping trips in order to avoid crowded places in 2020.
