2024 leading U.S. chemical companies based on revenue

 LyondellBasell Industries revenue amounted to approximately 73 billion U.S. dollars in 2024. Thus, LyondellBasell Industries was ranked as the leading chemical company in the United States based on revenue as of October 2024. The ranking of the leading U.S. chemical companies based on revenue includes Ecolabs, Mosaic Co, and Westlake Chemical Corp following LyondellBasell Industries to make up the four leading companies in this list.

Chemical companies worldwide

Several of the leading U.S. chemical companies also had spots among the 2024 top global chemical companies ranking based on revenue. LyondellBasell Industries was not only the leading chemical company based on revenue in the U.S., it was the second leading chemical company worldwide based on this metric. Other chemical companies that made up the top three worldwide by revenue included German company BASF (in first place) and China's Hengli Petrochemicals.

Dow and DuPont

The U.S. enterprise, known as DowDuPont until the company was spun-off in June 2019, was formed by the merger between Dow Chemical and E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company that was completed in September 2017. As a result of the merger, the company’s employee count almost doubled between 2016 and 2017. The multinational corporation was active in about 90 countries worldwide but generated about a third of its total revenue in the United States.
