Media use in Italy 2012-2015
The statistic presents data on media use in Italy from 2012 to 2015. Media consumption in Italy has followed a similar trend between 2012 and 2015 with the majority of respondents (88 percent in 2015) watching television at least once a week. The survey results show that reading local newspapers is the least popular activity to do, with 48 percent of respondents stating they read local newspapers at least once a week. This is a further decrease from 2012 when 54 percent of respondents stated they regularly read local newspapers.
According to another survey conducted in 2015, 82 percent of respondents use television media to stay informed about current affairs every day. Whereas over 50 percent of respondents stated that they use weekly printed press either never or less than once a month to keep themselves informed about current affairs and news events. A further study, conducted in 2017, asked individuals whether or not they trust traditional media. Over 35 percent of respondents stated they trust more traditional media because they have more credibility. However, 26 percent of respondents said they are more likely to trust what they find online than traditional media.
