In 2022, leading countries imported some 53 million metric tons of steel scrap. This represents an decrease of 11 percent compared to the previous year's value. In the period of consideration, leading markets' scrap imports fluctuated slightly and peaked at around 60 million metric tons in 2018.

From 2014 to 2019, global import values include EU28 countries. However, since 2020, figures only contain EU27 countries.
Figures are the sum of leading countries' scrap imports. The name of those countries is as follows: Turkey, EU28/27, USA, India, Republic of Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Belarus, and Canada.
Figures prior to 2017 were taken from previous version of the report.
