In 2023, the Louvre in Paris, France, was the most visited art museum worldwide, recording approximately 8.9 million visitors. While attendance at the Louvre increased over the previous year, it remained below the figure reported in 2019, before the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2023, the Vatican Museums in the Vatican City and the British Museum in London followed in the ranking, with around 6.8 million and 5.8 million visitors, respectively.
