This graph shows the Monthly contributions to super PACs in the 2012 election from 2011 up to November 2012, by party orientation. In September 2012, Republican super PACs spent a total amount of 36,666,441 U.S. dollars.

Super PACs are independent expenditure-only committees, which may raise unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions, associations and individuals, then spend unlimited sums to overtly advocate for or against political candidates. However, direct coordination and communication between political candidates and super PACs is prohibited. Each of the GOP candidates is supported by at least one super PAC.
