Galvanization made up 60 percent of the global consumption volume of zinc in 2022. Zinc-galvanizing can protect iron and steel from corrosion, thus allowing, for example, galvanized steel to be used for industrial roofing, appliances, and automobile manufacturing. Die-casting alloys, which accounted for a 13 percent share of zinc consumption worldwide that year, can be used for a wide variety of applications ranging from household fixtures to jewelry and engine components.
