Credibility of NBC in the U.S. 2022

A survey held in February 2022 revealed that 25 percent of American voters viewed NBC as a very credible source of news and information, while an additional 35 percent found the network to be somewhat credible. Conversely, around 12 percent of voters had major reservations about the network’s credibility, rating it as “not at all credible”.

The National Broadcasting Company (NBC) is the one of the oldest and most popular broadcasting networks in the United States. Operating as a subsidiary of telecom giant Comcast, NBC’s media segment brought in 66 percent of the total revenue of NBCUniversal in 2021. Some of the network's most popular recent programs are "The Voice," "America's Got Talent," and "Ellen's Night of Giveaways," each of which gathered millions of viewers over the course of the 2019/2020 season. NBC operates the news telecast entitled "NBC Nightly News" as well as the cable news network MSNBC.

Perceptions of the network

Increasing political tension in the U.S. has meant that television networks have found it difficult to continue to situate themselves at the center of the American political spectrum. Moreover, 26 percent of American voters considered the network to be at least somewhat liberal leaning, while only eight percent believed it to be centrist/non-partisan. Data also shows that a significant portion of Americans viewed NBC News as extremely biased, but it is unclear how heavily this response relies upon political affiliation.
